The first big news of the offseason was that Brad Maynard would not be returning to the Bears. He was a great punter for the Bears, but both him and the Bears agreed that it was time for a change.
The second big news was the Greg Olsen trade. He was traded to Carolina for a third round draft pick. Olsen is a good tight end, but he didn't fit in with Martz' system. Jay Cutler lost one of his favorite targets, but in the long run this should help make the offense more productive.
The Bears also managed to sign Roy Williams to a one-year deal. He thrived in the Martz system in Detroit. That is probably one of the reasons that he was the guy the Bears pursued. I look forward to seeing him play for the Bears and hopefully he becomes a big target for Cutler.
They also signed DT Anthony Adams, DL Vernon Gholston, WR Sam Hurd, P Adam Podlesh, LB Nick Roach, TE Matt Spaeth, and FB Will Ta’ufo’ou.
All of the Bears' draft picks were signed after Gabe Carimi finally agreed to a deal.
