The Wide Receiver Battle

During the offseason, the Bears brought in a receiver just like they needed to do. The problem is that they might have brought in the wrong guy. Williams was good with the Lions, but when he went to the Cowboys he wasn't good at all. Some say that it was because of the system and now that he is back with Martz, he will be better. I don't know if that's true or not. So far, Williams has shown that he has a bad attitude and that he just isn't good enough to be the number one receiver.

Meanwhile, Johnny Knox has been replaced and he wants his job back. Just recently Knox was listed as the third receiver behind Hester and Williams. He has shown during practice that he wants to change that. He wants his job back. Maybe this is a good thing and now he will realize that he has to work on some things and get better. I like Knox and he had a great season last year. There was one thing he needed to improve. If he can fight for the ball a little more, he should be fine as the number one receiver. He almost had 1,000 yards last season, he should get a little respect for doing that.

Other receivers to mention that probably won't be in the battle for the number one receiver include Sanzenbacher, Hester, and possibly Hurd. They are all good receivers and have shown promise at that position. Hester has the potential to be a good receiver, but he needs to work on some things. The signing of Sanzenbacher is huge. He has been very good and shows that he has lots of potential. I think that in 3-5 years he will be the Bears number one guy. Of course, injuries and other factors could change this, but that is my prediction at the moment.

In the end, I think Knox will win the number one job back and the Bears will have a pretty good receiving corps. Knox, Bennett, Hester, and Sanzenbacher is a pretty good group. Roy Williams can be included in that too. Even though Greg Olsen is gone, Cutler has some good options this year.
